ALMA, WI—Dairyland Power Cooperative has donated $7,355 to the Tri-Community Fire Department following Dairyland’s inaugural John P. Madgett (JPM) Charitable Golf Outing earlier this summer. As the local first responders, Tri-Community directly supports Dairyland’s Alma Site in the event of fire or emergency.
“The safety and well-being of our employees and communities is our highest priority at Dairyland," said Dairyland President and CEO Brent Ridge. "This donation to the Tri-Community Fire Department reflects our support and appreciation for their commitment to keeping local communities safe."
Funds raised from the Dairyland charitable golf outing and the annual firefighters dinner were used to help replace the department’s over 30-year-old tender truck. Tender trucks are used to transport water to the scene where a water source isn’t available. In searching for a new truck, the department decided to find a used chassis and transfer the tank to help reduce costs to the community. In total, fundraisers and donations contributed $30,000 to help offset cost of the $60,000 replacement truck.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported these fundraising efforts,” said Tri-Community Fire Chief, Matt Biesterveld. “This upgrade benefits the communities we serve and helps provide critical aid to the fire departments of Alma, Fountain City, Waumandee, Nelson, Mondovi and to our Mutual Aid Box Alarm Systems (MABAS) division 148.”
