Meet The Team
Cheri Bunker drumming facilitator and owner of Drum It Up has over 15 years of experience and has been trained by the Remo drum Corporation by Music therapist Christine Stevens and Neurologist Dr. Barry Bittman. Cheri is trained in HealthRhythms, Drumtastic and Instrumix. Cheri is also certified in Rhythm2Recovery a program using the rhythmic approach to support increased emotional regulation, improved social connection and reduced levels of anxiety and other elements of psychological distress. Drum It Up was started in 2005. Cheri is endorsed by the REMO Drum Corporation and has many years experience with memory care, special needs and women’s groups.
Marisa Cuneo-Linsly has been drumming since 1995. She started her journey with the drum at age 35 in the Twin Cities area. Her main teachers have been Colleen Haas and Kari Kjome. Since 2008 Marisa has developed her skills as a drum instructor, an ensemble Music Director and she is trained in HealthRHYTHMS- a wellness based drumming program offered by the REMO Drum Corporation. Marisa is also certified in Rhythm2Recovery a program using the rhythmic approach to support increased emotional regulation, improved social connection and reduced levels of anxiety and other elements of psychological distress.
Joan Stovall has been formally trained in drum circle facilitation by Drum It Up and has attended many group workshops at the Drum Circle Facilitator Guild Conference, peer training at the Women's Drum Center, and conga training with Babatunde Lee. Joan has lead drum circles at an elementary school in her district, assisted living, center for refugees, preschool, at the Women's Drum Center and is a former member of Drumheart and Groovin Heart at Smiling Drum studio.
Lori Schmidt was HealthRhythms trained by REMO Drum Corporation and mentored by Cheri Bunker. Over the past six years, Lori has primarily facilitated drum circles in senior living centers, along with various community settings (churches, community drop-in centers, and elementary schools). She led a 12-week residency at the Jones-Harrison senior campus (both assisted living and memory care) in Minneapolis. Lori has been a part of the Drumheart ensemble and is now drumming at the Smiling Drum studio, where she has learned drumming techniques on hand drums and stick drums for African and Brazilian style music.
Linda Melcher studied conga and drum set with Michael Kiley, and has drummed to accompany Rachel Nelson's Living the Questions (2008) and In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre's Between the Worlds (2013) Christmas production; is trained as a HeathRHYTHMS facilitator; mentored in drum circle facilitation by Christine Stevens, drummer and MSW, co-creator of the HealthRHYTHM protocol and wellness drum pioneer. Linda has organized and led ongoing community based drum circles and facilitated HealthRHYTHMS residencies for seniors in Two Harbors and Saint Paul. She developed the following spiritual based programs: Drumming Through the Chakras, Drumming into Story and The Rhythm of Love. Linda has presented these programs at conferences throughout the Midwest.
